Medals
The Festival recommends that medals should only
be awarded to, at most, the three competitors who achieve the
highest places. In principle, it would be expected that only the
competitor in first position is eligible for a gold medal, the
competitor in second for a silver medal and the competitor in third
for a bronze medal.
The Festival further recommends that gold medals
should only be given to competitors who are awarded Highly Commended
or Distinction or above (or have gained 84 marks or above); silver
or bronze medals for Commended or Merit or above (or 80 marks or
above). However, all medals will be awarded entirely at the
discretion of the adjudicators who may elect not to adhere strictly
to the recommendations of the Festival.
