Woodley Festival 2010
For the organisers of the Woodley Festival the Finale Concert is a wonderful occasion which celebrates the success of the some two thousand young people who take part. Each year it also provides an opportunity for the Festival to support a charity which is in some way connected to someone involved in the Festival. This year the collection at the end of the concert raised over £400 for 'Ataxia UK', a charity raising funds to help care for sufferers and also to invest in research. There are various forms of Ataxia which is a rare disorder of the nervous system. In the UK there are about 15,000 sufferers of which about one third are children. One of those children is a local girl who takes part in the Woodley Festival.

Although the Woodley Festival is itself a registered charity, the Finale Concert was a fundraiser for another charity - the Me2 Club. Established four years ago, the Me2 Club helps local children and young people aged 5 to 19 years old who have additional needs to participate in mainstream leisure activities. £284 was raised at the finale concert for the Me2 charity..
